By the numbers

On the third, I provided you with some numbers and thought I’d start doing that weekly.

So by the numbers from Monday, Sept. 16 through Sunday Sept. 22:

  • DNJ staff wrote 33 local stories.
  • DNJ staff published 85 local photos.
  • Published seven submitted community photos.
  • Published 21 submitted community stories or press releases.
  • Published six staff-written editorials.
  • Published three staff-written columns.
  • Published two locally-written guest columns.
  • Published four letters to the editor.
  • Published in print nine local Facebook comments related to the debt ceiling.
  • Published 27 staff sports stories.
  • Published 15 staff sports photos.
  • Published two submitted sports stories, both local.
  • Published six submitted sports photos, all local.

In addition, we published 36 calendar announcements. We brought the sad news of 20 local deaths through the obituaries and celebrated four births.

Let me point out for all our naysayers in sports – we were the only local media outlet in Boca Raton for the MTSU/FAU game and we’ve already booked travel for the BYU game.

This was what appeared in print and was the local content. It does not include other news from Associated Press or Gannett News Service, that is of a state, national or world interest.

We did even more online. Including:

  • At least 12 local videos.
  • More than 12 photo galleries featuring hundreds more local photos.
  • An online live chat.
  • Two pod casts.
  • One video cast.

As you can see, we continue to provide you more local content than anyone else in Rutherford County, but we know we’re not where we need to be yet. And we are working toward that end as well.
